Content Canada Announces Official Delegations To Attend In-Person Conference

Content Canada is proud to announce the first group of Official Delegations confirmed for its flagship event, taking place on September 13 and 14, 2022 at The Drake Hotel in Toronto.

In addition to providing delegates with access to the industry’s top companies and decision makers through thought leadership, interactive briefings and purposeful networking, participants of the Official Delegations will enjoy enhanced programming elements including a curated Pitch Market, customized workshops, and dedicated meet-and-greet opportunities.

This year’s Official Delegations will include groups from:

BIPOC
BIPOC TV & Film
BIPOC TV & Film was created with a mission to advocate for greater equity and representation in the Canadian content creation industry and to strengthen and empower a community of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour creatives across the sector. BIPOC TV & Film will be sending an Official Delegation to Content Canada of producers working in the unscripted genre.

Black Screen Office
Black Screen Office
The Black Screen Office was born to ensure that Canada’s screen industries’ practices and policies are equitable and free of anti-Black racism, and to empower Black Canadians working within the screen industries to thrive and share their stories. The Black Screen Office will be sending an Official Delegation to Content Canada of producers working across the scripted and unscripted genres.

RESO
Racial Equity Screen Office (RESO)
RESO is a Vancouver-based national advocacy organization that focuses on the distinct nature of the immigrant diaspora and the opportunities, realities, and stories that live within our communities. Its mandate is to elevate diverse stories told through our diasporic migrant lens, advocate for equitable funding for racialized Canadian content creators, and develop greater business opportunities and markets for content from racialized communities in and outside of Canada through export. RESO will be sending an Official Delegation to Content Canada of producers working across genres.

“The Black Screen Office is excited to bring a delegation of Black producers from across the country to Content Canada this year. We look forward to the international connections that will be made to help advance the projects and careers of our delegates,” said Joan Jenkinson, Executive Director, Black Screen Office.

"We're delighted to introduce financiers, broadcast executives, distributors and other Content Canada delegates to talented and driven Black, Indigenous and racialized content producers in our community," says Kadon Douglas, Executive Director at BIPOC TV & Film. "Access to key networks and decision-makers is a major step in levelling the playing field and diversifying our content—from the stories we tell to the storytellers we support and advance. Major thanks to Rogers Group of Funds and the Content Canada team for facilitating this opportunity and for committing to equitable change across our industry."

"RESO is thrilled to have delegates participating in Content Canada this year! We are excited to see the connections that will be formed and the diaspora stories that will make it onto global screens from this event," said Barbara Lee of RESO.

“Content Canada is committed to ensuring its event reflects the industry it serves,” said Ferne Cohen, Content Canada CEO. “We are delighted to welcome the delegates from these great organizations, and look forward to the exciting connections, projects and stories that will come from their participation at Content Canada!”
